Under the epidemic, the elderly has become an important group in the community that needs more support, especially for those who stay in subdivided flats and live alone. Also, the restaurants in the community are also facing severe operating challenges. The Church of the Saviour – Methodist has launched a monthly food coupon scheme - 豐「⾐」⾜⻝ in Sep 2020 to distribute $20 coupons for the elderly in need. The elderly can use this coupon to enjoy meals at over 9 restaurants and bakeries in the Western District at no cost. Student volunteers from HKU have been recruited to assist in coupon delivery at the site so that they could form connections with the elderly, and gain a deeper understanding of the food access problem.
