Children Learning Activities
Catering Care's Children Learning Activities aim to ensure equal access to quality education by school children in the Western District and cultivate a sense of care and nurture among HKU students. Last year, Catering Care has recruited student volunteers in HKU to conduct board games and tutoring sessions for children at St. Barnabas' Society and Home during the Easter Camp and Summer Camp.
April Easter Camp
Students learned healthy eating habits and explore nutritional benefits of common food. Both of our volunteers and students enjoyed the happy Easter together.
[Phase 1] St. Barnabas Homework Guidance Class (Nov-Dec 2021)
8 volunteers contributed 46 hours in teaching 20 children including 7 SEN children.
Stella Zhang, our volunteer tutor,
'Tutoring these kids is not easy. It needs your full attention, patience and understanding but it is definitely worth the effort and it gives you a sense of accomplishment.'
'You can make their learning experience more interesting, and gradually, you'll earn their trust and become their friends. This voluntary tutoring experience also provides a context for me to reflect on educational issues in Hong Kong.'
